GIS Mapping System
The Geographical Informational System (GIS) uses a combination of aerial photography, Global Positioning Satellites (GPS), and the master addressing file became operational in early 2005 at a cost of approximately $350,000.
The cost of the system was then reimbursed to Noble County by the Indiana State E-911 Wireless Board. This system now enables dispatchers to locate the origin of in-coming calls utilizing any component of the GIS system. Cellular telephone calls can also be located to within 50 to 100 meters of origin through GPS coordinates.
